PURE Theatre's audience and subscribers are discerning but adventurous, with eclectic tastes and passion for the arts.

Ranging in age from college students to retirees, our patrons tend to be well educated, with diverse values, lifestyles, and beliefs. We encourage access for all by offering student-rush tickets and pay-what-you-can performances.

PURE is a founding participant of Theatre Communication Group's annual Free Night of Theatre event.

Since our first performance in 2003, PURE has steadily grown a loyal patron base through grassroots efforts, word of mouth, and critical acclaim. Our dedicated audience has watched PURE emerge as a magnet for talent and artistic professionalism, praised by critics and audiences, with an evolving national profile for excellence.

Ticket sales account for approximately 48 percent of PURE's annual income. We rely on donations for the balance. PURE receives grants from the South Carolina Arts Commission (which, in turn, receives funding from the National Endowment for the Arts), the City of Charleston, the Kite Foundation, the Gaylord and Dorothy Donnelley Foundation, and others.
