“I USED TO BE FLAT AND QUIET. I WAS WALLPAPER. I STAYED VERY STILL. I MET YOU AND I BECAME REAL. I ATE AND DRANK, I LEFT FOOTPRINTS. I HAD VOLUME. WHEN I ENTERED A ROOM THERE WERE MORE PEOPLE THERE.”

Playwright John Kolvenbach boldly introduces us to the ever-shrinking world of the self-exiled Beane, a man who has little to show that he exists in this world. His sister and her husband try to lure Beane out of his shell but are too caught up in their own busy and complicated lives to have much effect. One night when Beane’s apartment is robbed by a mysterious woman, things change—and suddenly Beane can see in technicolor. This offbeat comedy follows Beane’s adventure into the real world and what it means to love, in all its insane forms.
